The biggest misconceptions heard from clients, Part 3

Misconception 3: “FDM is the only option.”

For many people, 3D printing is synonymous with FDM—a single nozzle slowly building one part, layering with visible lines.

But the truth is:

  • FDM is not the only form of 3D printing.
  • Multi Jet Fusion (MJF) can produce industrial quality parts:
    • Stronger, isotropic parts
    • Batch production, faster (dozens or hundreds per run)
    • Production quality finishes

This is not hobby-level technology. MJF is a proven production method used in medical, automotive, aerospace, and consumer applications.

The real shift occurs when teams no longer think 3D printing is a “garage tool” and start to think of it as an industrial method.
