On August 8 our parent company, Baltic Orthoservice Ltd., had the honor of hosting President Valdas Adamkus. During the visit he toured one of the most modern orthopedic companies in Europe and at the end of his visit the Smart Factory team invited the President to be scanned in our 3D digitization laboratory, promising to create a three-dimensional image of him. President Valdas Adamkus was not afraid of our technology, believed in our abilities, and allowed us to digitize his image.
The bust of the President was created in three days. However, the opportunity to present it to him was delayed three months. On November 3 the President celebrated his birthday and we decided to take advantage of this opportunity. The bust is made of birch, with photographic accuracy. The task was accomplished by the Smart Factory team: the President was digitized and processed by Ilja, his bust was modeled and “CAM’ed” by Arturas, CNC’ed by a Ballestrini mill, while the finishing was completed by Laura and Viktorija.
